What to Expect When You Begin
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You may be unsure of what to expect, or even if this is the right time. That’s okay.
This page is here to give you a clear sense of how the process works, and to help you decide if Forge & Path is the right fit for you.
Think of it like stepping onto a path: you don’t have to see the whole way forward. You just need the courage to take the first step.
Here’s what you can expect when you begin.
A Safe, Private, and Personal Process
All sessions are provided remotely, through a secure video platform. For clients who prefer it, I also offer secure phone sessions (via Spruce). My goal is to create a space that’s private, personal, and grounded; where you can slow down, reflect, and engage your story with honesty and care.
The Intake Process
We’ll begin with a brief phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. This is a free 15-minute call to get a sense of your goals and answer any initial questions. If you decide to move forward, I’ll schedule your first session. For those who want a little more space to begin, I offer an extended 75-minute intake (available only for first sessions, $270). Otherwise, we’ll begin with a standard 50-minute session.
How the Work Feels
This isn’t a quick-fix approach, and that’s intentional. The work I do is story-centered, relational, and respectful of your pace. Some clients begin with clear goals; others are still finding the words. Both are welcome.
It won’t always be easy, but it will always be meaningful. We’ll move at a pace that’s steady, honest, and shaped by your story, not by pressure to perform or produce results.
How Often We Meet
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, which helps build momentum and a strong foundation. Some shift to biweekly or even monthly meetings over time, especially once they’ve reached a level of clarity or stabilization.
We’ll decide together what rhythm makes sense, and adjust as your needs evolve.
You’re still writing your story…and you don’t have to do it alone.
