Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer faith-based counseling?
Yes. My counseling approach is shaped by a Christian worldview, and that perspective naturally informs the way I listen, understand, and help clients. I work respectfully with people from all faith backgrounds, including those who do not identify with any faith, and my goal is to meet clients where they are while offering insight and guidance consistent with my values.
Do you only work with clients in Florida and Ohio?
Because of licensing laws, I can only meet with clients who are physically located in Florida or Ohio at the time of their session. All sessions are remote (phone or video), so as long as you’re in one of those states during our meeting, we can do this important work together.
Do you take insurance?
I don’t accept insurance directly, but I can provide you with a ‘superbill’ that you may submit for possible reimbursement. Many clients prefer this approach because it avoids diagnosis requirements and protects confidentiality.
Who do you work with?
I primarily work with men, from teens to older adults, who are navigating identity, shame, faith, or life transitions. I’ve seen a deep need for men to have a place where they can step into their story with honesty, courage, and hope, and that’s the heartbeat of Forge & Path. I also walk alongside pastors and ministry leaders who carry unique pressures.
Do you see women as well?
Yes. While my main focus is on men and adolescent guys, I also work with women who connect with my approach. If you’re a woman considering counseling here, you’ll be welcomed with the same care, respect, and commitment to your story.
Do you work with teens?
Yes. I work with adolescents through a story-centered, flexible approach that helps them explore identity, motivation, and emotional awareness. While I offer tools designed to support common teen struggles, including anxiety, attention issues, and emotional regulation, sessions are tailored to meet each teen where they are.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy stays private. I hold your story with care and confidentiality, and I take that trust seriously.
There are a few rare exceptions where I’m legally required to break confidentiality, such as if someone is in immediate danger. But we’ll go over those clearly together during the informed consent process.
What if I’m not sure counseling is for me?
That’s what the free 15-minute consult is for. It’s a no-pressure space to ask questions, share what’s going on, and decide if I’m the right fit.
